Great Day WIth the O'Dell Eight - Feb. 20, 2010

The five puppies who arrived at Animal Essentials on Saturday morning received the rock star treatment.

 And why not?

They worked to get to where they were.

Members of the O'Dell Eight - eight shepard/lab mixes - were left abandoned in Fredericton's O'Dell Park a couple of weeks ago. Brought to the Fredericton SPCA, all eight were unharmed and received the care they were seeking at the shelter.

Animal Essentials is a satellite adoption centre for the Fredericton SPCA.

"We were thrilled to be asked to provide the space for the puppies when we were contacted," said Shelley Janes, owner of Animal Essentials. "The news of what happened to the little guys certainly captured the hearts of many."

People arrived at the store early Saturday including residents of Moncton, who heard the news and made the 90 minute drive early in the morning.

"The best news is all five were adopted and will find good homes which is what made the day so successful," said Janes. "We're glad to play a small part. There were a lot of oohs and aahs in the store today. It was a lot of fun."
