Okay, the Food is Coming...Soon - Aug. 12, 2010

 Every once in awhile I will look around to see if there are any hidden cameras.

 To see if someone is yanking my chain.

 Like the lady who told us we could make a fortune selling horse food and items.

 Well, over the past month or so we have been on the verge of bringing Canadian-made Acana to Animal Essentials.

 We have sold some since the start of the year, bringing in a bag here and there, but nothing in terms of stocking our shelves. For the most part, we kept it out back and when folks asked for it, we had some.

 Wanted to try it more than anything.

 It is a premium food and folks do like the fact it has the red maple leaf on the bag.

 For some reason, over the past three weeks or so, we have been inundated with requests for Acana. Samples, specific SKUs.

 Which is why I was wondering if someone was messing with us.

 Could it possibly be that popular?

 Apparently so.

 It is coming to AE and will be at the store the next time we place an order with the Canadian supplier. If you have been in our Food Court lately, you will notice all of our Nutro - including Ultra - has been amalgamated to make room for Acana.

 We may actually move Fredericton-made ProSeries to join Acana for an O Canada display. That way we can use the space from ProSeries for crates and X-Pens and the like.

 Just a thought anyway.

 Just a retail note...we apologize for not being able to accept special orders. We receive a number of requests for one-off items. Rarely would you buy one collar, one leash or one product. When you place an order with a distributor, you want it worth the while. A truck coming from Ontario is not going to stop at AE with a bottle of Raspberry Wine shampoo only. It can be difficult for folks to understand, but when we place orders, they are large. Single items are difficult to bring in. If there an item - say a doggie stroller - we will ask for payment up front to bring it in. You learn folks will go elsewhere and you are stuck with product. Make sense?

 Nutro items, selected brands, are 30 per cent off. Cat food is going quick, but if you have a puppy or puppy litter, you can save a plethora. Always look for an excuse to use the work plethora. It is right up there with entity for me.

 Blue Seal scheduled to arrive Saturday. About the same time the soccer tournament, horse show and family reunion some 90 miles away unfold.
