It Just Seems So Quiet Down at the Store - Oct. 28, 2010
Went down to the store last night for some quality time.
When you own a business, there are things always on your mind.
We had a power outage in the neighbourhood once again yesterday morning. Now, not much works, but every time the power flickers, you have to worry about the fish tanks. All 18 tanks stopped, but fortunately the half hour outage isn't a huge deal.
Still, there are other things that need to be done, whether it's checking on stock, kibitzing with the customers and catching up with our employees.
Shaunna was working last night and the second she mentioned it, she was exactly right.
It was quiet.
Quiet because we don't have any cats in the store.
Usually you'll walk in and Floyd or Angela or some kittens are running around and ripping things up.
Or sleeping.
But not having any Fredericton SPCA cats at the store is noticeable.
The two kitty condos are still near the back, but they're empty.
We will be getting more cats from the SPCA, but it probably won't happen until early next week.
Something just seems amiss when you don't have them in and about.
The fish are great to look at, but it's tough to cuddle them or have them jump up on the counter when you're ringing a customer in.
Sorry, Tom, but it's true!
Anyway, still many other items to have a gander at.
We are anticipating a fish order and a new stock of hamsters today so at least there will be some commotion down there.
That's better.
Quiet's nice, but let's get some action back.
