Picking up the Friday Pieces at Animal Essentials - Nov. 25, 2011
Tom was up to his neck in water changes for the aquariums last night which meant it allowed us the chance to get some work in behind the counter at Animal Essentials.
It was indeed a very busy Thursday.
Here are some scraps collected during a 90-spin at our store.
*The kittens are treating the store like a buffet! Cat toys all over the place. They tire of one and go get another. Glad we don't have Chocolate labs from the Fredericton SPCA. There wouldn't be anything left.
*From time to time we offer discounts right at the counter. A lady last night told me "this is what we hear on the street." We love hearing that. When you're small and independent you can offer an extra step of PR and the odd deal here and there. It's what makes the world goes 'round.
*A man told us our budgies aren't "bright enough." I gave them a quick quiz on basic math and they all scored higher than 85 per cent. Oh, wait...you think he meant colours?
*At one point last night, there were two bags of food on the counter and three kittens on top of them. Just another night at the zoo.
*We had a little problem recently with a couple of kids who were up to no good at AE. The no-goodness factor also allegedly included them opening the hamster cages. Two hamsters escaped. We found them. Kind of. Actually the good folks next door at the Dollar Store found them. Give the hamsters credit. They made the rounds. At least Adam, our adult FSPCA cat didn't say "what the heck is that?"
*Nice to see AE on Youtube and starting to take off on Facebook. We'd have a Twitter account, but just too many passwords!
*Open tonight until 8 p.m. and the doors swing open Saturday from 9 to 8 p.m.
